👉 Who’s Really in Charge of Your Collision Repair?

After an accident, many drivers assume the insurance company is in charge of the repair process, but that isn’t how collision repair actually works. Your vehicle belongs to you, which means you have the right to choose where it is repaired and how it is restored. The insurance company’s role is to review damage and issue payment based on your policy, not to determine repair methods or procedures. Initial insurance estimates are often written quickly and may not account for hidden damage or manufacturer-required steps, which is why they are considered a starting point—not a final repair plan.

A professional collision repair facility is responsible for identifying all damage, researching manufacturer repair procedures, and determining what your vehicle truly needs to be repaired properly. While a reputable shop works with the insurance company throughout the process, it does not work for them. At S & A Paint and Repair, our responsibility is to you and your vehicle—to advocate for correct repairs, prioritize safety and performance, and ensure nothing is overlooked simply to meet an estimate.

While insurance may be involved in payment, the responsibility for choosing the repair shop and approving the repair plan rests with you, the vehicle owner.
